“Some become champions, few become legends.”—Bill “Superfoot” Wallace
Welcome once again fight fans to another installment of Time Warp Battle, where historical fighting legends meet today’s future (or in this case—current) Hall of Fame candidates.
Today, we’re going to look back at what would happen if the 1979 PKA Middleweight Champion kickboxer, Bill Wallace, were to take on one of today’s most popular and decorated UFC fighters—the former UFC Welterweight Champion, Matt Hughes, circa 2006.
If you are new to this series (sorry, it’s been a while), please note that the...

“Studies done by Yale University in America have quantified the stigma that people attach to overweight and obese individuals. Among some of the negative stereotypes that these students had were that they believed that overweight and obese people were insecure, lazy, and had very little willpower.

“There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them.”—Denis Waitley
As I write this article, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is still illegal in many parts of the world. In particular, the politicians in my home Province of Ontario, Canada are still feeling that the legalization of MMA is a “non-priority.”
Quite simply—MMA is not on the political radar because the powers that be do not stand to benefit personally from its acceptance.
How else can you explain why each element of MMA is legally permitted in competition (wrestling,...

Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard scored the fastest knockout in the promotion’s history, requiring only six seconds in the first round to completely destroy UFC veteran Jay Silva, in a non-title, 190-pound catch weight fight at the Monroe Civic Center in Monroe, La.
Silva, who was fighting on short notice after replacing Paulo Filho, was coming off of two straight losses in the UFC, both of which went to a decision.
Lombard, whose record has now improved to 26-2-1, has not lost an MMA bout since November 2006—a streak of 19 straight matches.
Impressed yet?
You absolutely should...

“The willingness to accept responsibility for one’s own life is the source from which self-respect springs.”—Joan Didion
.
In case you didn’t already know, Paul “Semtex” Daley had a crucial decision to make at UFC 113 and not very much time to make it—unfortunately.
In a matter of seconds, the young Daley found himself embroiled in a personal conflict of principles. His choices were to try and salvage what was left of his severely damaged dignity (and face the potentially severe consequences, particularly in the wake of Dana White’s harsh criticisms of the recent post-fight...

Now that UFC 112 is in the record books, Abu Dhabi isn’t exactly putting Mixed-Martial Arts on hold while they wait for the next major UFC event to pass through town.
In fact, the ADFC is forging ahead by returning MMA to its illustrious roots by hosting an open-weight, televised, and recurring Mixed-Martial Arts Grand Prix event.
Did you catch that, fight fans?
“Open Weight!!”
The concept is simple: Fighters will clash in the open-weight “Battle of the Champions” to decide who will be the world’s greatest pound-for-pound, winner-take-all, champion.
Eight International Mixed-Martial...

In an evening filled with exciting fights and interesting upsets (sucks to be Canadian, eh?), one particular display of apparent classlessness had left the UFC President, Dana White, extremely disappointed and disgusted.
And no, I’m not talking about Josh Koscheck’s first round “Montreal Canadiens” impression, where he turtled-up and played “injured” after an apparent missed knee by Daley.
[WHISTLE]
“Two minutes for diving!”
I am referring of course, to the end of this fight where a visibly frustrated Paul “Semtex” Daley made a grave error in judgement by striking Koscheck in...

El Octagono (Ok-tog-a-no) is an MMA-related program, which is 100% dedicated to the broadcasting of mixed-martial arts in Spanish, as well as, in English.
On the website, you will find updates on the latest in MMA news, events, fight results, and “hot topic” opinions.
Together, Randall “El Flaco” Villafañe (I had to look it up—it means “the Skinny” in Spanish) and Camilo “El Parcero” Ortiz (Parcero is a Colombian slang term that feeds off of the word “Parce,” which is like saying bro or homeboy) host a website, a Facebook page, a Podcast program on iTunes,...

There are a tonne of reasons why modern mixed-martial arts has had incredible success up until this point, but more specifically, there are two major reasons why this level of success will continue, as MMA’s growth sky-rockets at a record setting pace.
The success that MMA has experienced up until this point has been nothing short of miraculous when you consider the opposition over the years. As such, like it or not, mainstream news media is now being forced to accept the reality:
MMA is here to stay—permanently!
Those brain-dead, close-minded politicians in certain states and provinces throughout...

The middle child often has a sense of not belonging.
They fight to receive attention from parents (Zuffa) and others (the fans) because they feel many times they are being ignored or dubbed off as being the same as another sibling (GSP, Brock Lesnar, etc.).
Being in the middle, a child can feel very insecure.
On the flip side, imagine what it must be like to possess confidence levels so incredibly high and powerful, that when a fighter steps into the cage, he already knows that he can beat anyone that the UFC puts across from him.
What result would that have on his levels of performance and psyche?
Well...
