Friends will always make fun of other friends, that’s just the way it is. But good friends, young men especially, shouldn’t intentionally go out of their way to make another friend feel like he’s continuously being picked on or the butt of an ongoing joke.
It’s one thing to make fun of someone who you know can take it because he has a great sense of humour and doesn’t take himself or the things that his friends say too seriously…he tries anyway.
It’s another thing however, to keep harping on about something that eventually goes from being funny to being mean and senseless. How do you know when you’ve gone too far or it’s time to stop? Easy. That friend will tell you. So respect your friends and don’t take things too far. Not if you expect to keep that person as a friend anyway.
In other words…please don’t be a jerk about it. Learn when enough is enough and move on before there is no more friendship to speak of. Then you’ll wish you had more buddies to joke around with instead of sitting around all by yourself resenting everyone for “taking themselves too seriously.”
